| DNL
has a total commitment to maintaining a clean
environment-a commitment that is clearly reflected
in the activities right from the top management
to the worker at the shop floor level.
A clean environment at all
its manufacturing locations is ensured by:
 |
Continuously
operating Effluent Treatment Plants |
 |
Burning
of waste gases |
 |
Controlling
NOx emission |
 |
Monitoring
of ambient air quality |
 |
Monitoring
of effluents and emission quality |
 |
Safely
disposing solid waste |
|
 |
The above practices help in
achieving strict compliance with statutory
standards laid down by the regional Pollution
Control Authorities for plant effluent and
emission quality.
DNL’s commitment and
concern towards maintaining a clean environment
is not merely confined to treating liquid
effluents /gaseous streams before discharging,
but is characterized by a holistic approach
towards environmental protection and control.
The major environmental issues
are addressed as follows:
1. Ongoing manufacturing processes
are studied in detail with a view to minimize
generation of liquid/gaseous waste streams
as a part of continuous improvement.
2. In our
R&D centre (Deepak Research and Development
Foundation), we have constituted a Pollution
Control Cell, which is actively engaged
in development of technologies for pollution
abatement at our manufacturing plants and
also doing consultancy work for smaller
industrial units that lack infrastructure
for carrying out R&D work. The development
of pollution control technologies is done
not only for achieving pollution abatement,
but also to conserve energy, improve process
yields and product quality.
