DEEPAK Nitrite, manufacturer of nitro-aromatic products, has decided to shift focus from the production of traditional low-margin bulk intermediates to the production of fine chemicals with higher margins for the export market. The aim is to achieve a nearly 50% jump in exports during the current financial year. Deepak Mehta, MD, Deepak Nitrite told ET the benefits of increased focus on export would be visible only after some time. "We hope to achieve some long-term benefits from the increased export of specialised products".

In this connection, Mr Mehta said the company's R&D facility is moving from product-based research to process-based research.
